If you haven’t already created a campus wordpress account, please go to http://faculty.uccadavis.edu and follow instructions for creating an account.
Please think of a domain name prior to creating the account. For example wplab will be http://wplab.faculty.ucdavis.edu
The default theme is Twenty Fourteen. You can change the theme under the Appearance menu.
Staging the Site
Turn Discussion option OFF
If pages are all that is needed, you won’t need to allow comments. To turn this off, go to
Settings >> discussion >> Turn off comments
Uncheck “Allow people to post…. ”
SAVE
Delete the sample page under PAGES
Delete the HELLO WORLD under POSTS.. the only time you will deal with posts is if you have NEWS articles. Otherwise, create Pages
Create the HOME page. This will be your first page. Configure settings to LAND on this page when the URL is entered.
Settings >> Reading >> Static Page >> HOME
Proceed to create ALL your pages… blank body…
Create the PRIMARY menu by select Appearance –> Menu. Arrange in order you would like to see it in. This includes submenus (drop downs) under a menu item.
